ABOUT TRUENORTH
Better technology.
Built from experience.
TrueNorth exists to make the job more efficient and put practical, affordable technology into the hands of the officers who need it.
OUR DIRECTION
From an officer.
For the profession.
Good training deserves more than disconnected forms and time spent chasing paperwork. TrueNorth brings daily documentation, meaningful feedback, and a clearer view of progress into one field-training experience.
Our purpose is straightforward: help officers spend less energy managing the process and more energy developing the people who serve their communities.
Better tools should be within reach. Affordable pricing is central to the company’s approach, with a focus on practical value for agencies of different sizes—not complexity for its own sake.

THE EXPERIENCE BEHIND THE PURPOSE
Joshua Alan-Kinsey Jonas
Owner & CEO
For Joshua, TrueNorth is more than a software company. It is a way to put the perspective of a working officer into tools that help the profession move forward—without putting better technology out of an agency’s reach.
Raised in Montana and a graduate of Forsyth High School, Joshua began his service at 19 when he joined the United States Army as a paralegal specialist. He served for approximately four years before medically retiring at the rank of Sergeant. That military chapter became the foundation for a career devoted to public service.
His path combined practical experience with continued education: an associate degree from Kaplan University and a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from American Military University. He spent nine and a half years with the Rosebud County Sheriff’s Office, where he served as a Sergeant, and served two and a half years as the elected County Coroner.
Joshua brought that experience to the Glendive Police Department in May 2025 as Captain and was promoted to Assistant Chief of Police in November 2025. His perspective spans military service, county law enforcement, and municipal police leadership—the same breadth of experience he brings to TrueNorth’s practical, officer-focused approach.
His commitment to the profession also extends beyond his department. He has served on the boards of the Montana Sheriffs and Peace Officers Association and the Law Enforcement Torch Run Special Olympics Executive Board. He currently serves as Eastern Director of the Montana Association of Chiefs of Police (MACOP).
Through TrueNorth, Joshua is focused on a straightforward goal: make the administrative side of the job more efficient so officers and supervisors can give more attention to the people they are training. Clearer documentation, useful insight, and affordable access are the principles guiding that work.
